Any Ladies Had Bleeding Gums During Early Pregnancy?

By admin Posted in: Uncategorized

I don’t actually know if I’m pregnant but I have this weird instinct I am. Well basically I’m just trying to establish how common sensitive gums are in pregnancy? I clean my teeth twice a day and have a healthy diet although I do smoke between 5-10 cigarettes a day. Well for the past few weeks when I’ve cleaned my teeth, my gums have been very painful and bleed even though I have a soft toothbrush! My mouth hurts all the time and I only have to touch it and it’s bleeding! Been to the dentist and he said no sign of gum disease and I have very healthy teeth so don’t know what else could be triggering it! Any ideas? Anyone else had really sensitive gums?
Thanks

It is normal to have bleeding gums, but during the second and third trimester. Something to do with the veins and the increase of blood flow and I don’t really have an explanation, but yes, it is common. I don’t recall it early in pregnancy as a sign though.

Yes, your gums do become more sensitive when you’re pregnant. I don’t know that it would happen that quickly (ie you don’t know you’re pregnant except this slight symptom) as it has to do with the change in blood vessels and blood volume that occurs as pregnancy progresses.
