Atheists, I’m Trying To Free My Brain Of Religion But I Still Fear Hell, How Can I Free Myself Of This?

By admin Posted in: Anti Spam Software

I realized that there are many contradictions, not just in The Bible, but in other religious texts. I’m not even sure if Jesus existed and I’m losing faith in God, and I think the idea of a Satan is stupid..
However, I guess my brain is so messed up from religion, that I am still scared of The Anti-Christ, Hell, Satan, 666, and End Time Prophecies.
I feel fear because sometimes I’ll think “What if there IS a Satan and I am being tricked?” or “What if God is real and I DO go to hell for all of my sins”…
What can I do to change my beliefs and FREE myself from this? It is very depressing. I wish I never heard of The Bible so I won’t have to go through all of this trouble and fear of breaking free.
Help Atheists!
(Obviously Christians and Other religious people, this question isn’t for you and answering will just resort in my reporting you for spam)

  1. Daniel Says

Personally, I would like to hear the devil’s side of the story. Perhaps God is the power hungry one, and he was able to sneak up on the devil and locked him in a basement so that he could have absolute power and then blames the devil for all the bad in the world, so that no one tries to blame him.
What if the devil breaks out one day and sends all of God’s followers to hell for not saving him? Do you really want to commit to a side when you haven’t heard both sides of the story?

Myself I think that if there really is a god who sends people to Hell to suffer eternally just because they don’t believe in him, he clearly isn’t the “loving God” described in the Bible and I’ll never worship him.
Also I believe that if a God exists, he would let me have a nice afterlife as long as I spend my life well; helping people in need of help, being friendly to everyone and such.

But you can say “what if ________ is the real true religion?” (insert ANY religion).
You’ll drive yourself nuts that way.
For me it was just a gradual realization that religions are all made up, and that includes hell. In fact a pastor at my old church preached on how there was nothing wrong with scaring people into becoming believers (through the idea of hell). Looking back that’s probably what started me questioning the whole thing.

It takes time. Fear is a very powerful emotion, which is why the fear response is so exploited by many religions. You have to be patient and give yourself permission to examine your fearful feelings, as to take their power away.

  5. CC Says

You must come to the realization that fear is never a good reason to believe.

  6. The Castaways Says

Don’t think or worry about it. If you don’t believe in any God’s then you shouldn’t have any trouble.

  11. Squeaky Red Bottom Says

    It’s hard to be afraid.
Death is an waiting for all of us, and it’s easy to pile up all sorts of fears there.
The reality is, if the god of the koran and the bible is really out there somewhere waiting to torture people who don’t do what he says, most people would be frightened into submission. No matter how ridiculous it all sounds when you think rationally, it’s those times when you are scared and alone that religion has the power to grab you. That’s because religion *is* an emotional response to our condition…not a rational response.
We do live in an absurd condition. Fear and tears are going to be a part of it.
Try your best to make laughter an equal part of it.

  12. Superiority Complex Says

    Think about it like this.
If God is really all loving and caring, then you won’t go to hell for just enjoying life. Just so long as you’re not a bad person.
If God will really send you to hell for enjoying life, even though you’re a good person, then he probably would have sent you to hell regardless of what you’ve done.
And on top of all that, how would you know which religion is right? There are soooo many beliefs based on deities. Choosing the wrong one could result in a f*cked up punishment. You’re pretty much playing the lottery with religion.
So you’re probably f*cked regardless of what you choose. Just go with the one that makes the most sense.

When I first turned away from religion I had the same problem. It is only because you were drowned in religion and to forget everything you were taught and told from people you love and trust is difficult. What helps me is remembering the things that made me leave religion. I know they have no proof, I know that it is just one big by gods dick is bigger than yours when it comes to religion, and I know that I am much happier and free without religion. It is very hard though for a long time you will probably still have those thought on occasion I know when people say oh my god or jesus christ I still cringe a little because I was always taught not to take the lords name in vain, but I find myself not doing that as much as time goes on. So I think the longer your free from religion the easier it will be.
Edited: @ Daniel- That is awesome there actually is an anime called Tears of Tiara that has Lucifer being the good guy and god the bad over bearing control freak. I loved it it put a whole new spin on christianity and really made you see it for what it was. In the end you end up loving Lucifer. Def A MUST SEE!!

666 is the number of the antichrist and his mark
anyone “who receives nwo electronic tattoo with three sixes given by lasers” goes to hell.
anyone who worships nwo leader (whose name adds up to this evil number) goes to hell.
for example, bible gives foreshadowing of past world leaders:
nimrod bin cush ‘s name adds to this evil number
and nero ‘s name adds to this evil number
and of course the antichrist’s (beast’s) name adds to this evil number
warning: 80ftdinosaurs will come out from underground through sinkholes and lakes, and start eating people up; antichrist is a white gay man with red eyes; mark of the antichrist is a green electronic nwo tattoo with sixes that is given by lasers when one stretches their hand to receive a new small gray world passport; ufos=demons=aliens=ascended masters=ghosts=channeled entities=dead relatives during seances=spirit guides=pagan gods=greys etc.; atlantis (where aliens make humans their puppets) is underneath mariana trench; china will attack russia; don’t worship the antichrist; don’t take “the chip, world passport, and nwo tattoo”; don’t go into a ufo ship under any circumstances

  15. OLD MAN WITH A BEARD Says

Things to do with magic and religion are naturally scary, which is why so many people still believe, because they are afraid to the core.
But look at it this way: Hell is just a scary story.
    That’s all it is.
Humans have no soul, there is no kind of fire than can burn forever, and there was never any proof of hell. So why believe it?
Just distract your mind from it all, and you will be freed from the paranoid list. And remember you are not alone, there are lots of others who also don’t believe in that rubbish :)

  16. Maverick Says

Do you doubt when you believe in God?? You keep all your doubts aside when you believe, right?.. Then why doubt when you don’t want to believe.. You can’t doubt reality.. And if there’s no God then where’s the question of heaven, hell or Satan..
Faith may make you feel strong.. but it’s just temporary.. Believe in yourself and you’ll always be strong..
Talking about sins.. it’s you, who has to decide what sin is.. let your life be guided by your morals and not by a Book..

  17. Sarah Louise Says

Hi. I know exactly what you mean. I only recently freed myself from this. Can I recommend reading The God Delusion. God is Not Good and Demon Haunted World. My problem was that tho I had been intellectually an atheist for many years I could not rid myself of my last superstitious fears and feelings. When you read these books you will find that all of these are tackled and put into perspective and the fear and superstition dies away. Dawkins writes entertainingly and is easy to read – I thoroughly enjoyed his work – the other two come from different angles. I asked this question about a year ago and was directed to these books for which I am very grateful.
