   Why do noobs always think they need a software firewall ?
   here it is straight…
   it really depends what you’ve got on the PC.
   Strictly speaking you don’t need a software firewall at all,
   either your running a PC on a network,
   in which case you can use your router as a firewall,
   or your running a standalone PC,
   in which case you can switch off most of your networking components.
   You can leave every port open to the outside world,
   but if there are no processes listening on your PC
   ( i.e. something on your pc is set to respond to unrequested traffic from the internet)
   then no hacker or worm is going to get through.
   Switch off unnecessary services and You are practically safe already,
   windows firewall is simply extra and perfectly sufficient protection.
   Switching off these services will also free up resources.
   malwarebytes pro with any anti virus system will be good enough.

   The Comodo Firewall is far-and-above the best firewall available, but it really isn’t very user-friendly for beginners.
   I personally don’t care for AVG (I use and recommend Avast free antivirus + Comodo Firewall), but if AVG is what you’re intent on using, the firewall would depend on your computer experience… and your patience
   If you are relatively new, just stick with the AVG suite.
   The AVG firewall will definitely be adequate.
   - And definitely keep MBAM regardless of which antivirus and firewall you choose.

   avg free 2012 and malwarebytes and comodo firewall is good.
   i’ve nearly used 13-15 antiviruses. i dono wat they say in websites, but from my experience i rate avg 3.5 out of 5.
   and comodo firewall is excellent.
