I have a dell inspiron 1525 laptop and almost everytime that i close the laptop the computer restarts and now it is taking over 5 minutes to start up….Is there anything that I can do to change this??
Additional info: I have windows vista, computer is just over 2 years old, problem has been going on for about 3 months…never had any problems before, i have avast antivirus, and don’t have any spyware or adware (i dont think)…i have done all of the traditional stuff for making coputer run better and faster but nothing helps…HELP!!


Dells are notorious for their internal connectors that come loose. Chances are one of them has come loose and the act of closing your laptop breaks the connection on one of those connectors. Can’t exactly say which one from the description — could be inverter connector or display connector. That Dell is pretty easily to disassemble so I’d take it in and have a Dell certified tech have a look at it — should only be their minimum 1 hour charge.
Well.. It may be that your computer setting is set to reboot when you close your computer lid (lid is computer screen in computer lingo).
Find the battery icon in the system tray (far right on task bar) > Click “More power options” > Find “Choose what closing the lid does” in the list on the left side of the window > Select your settings from there
