Do People Trust The Es&s Ivotronic Paperless, Completely Electronic Voting System, Like South Carolina’s?

Some people mistrust election results produced from the ES&S (formerly Diebold) iVotronic voting machine, since it is completely paperless, fully electronic and leaves absolutely zero forensic evidence. Since there is no paper, a voter has no idea whatsoever if the candidate they select on the touch screen received his vote, cast his vote for another candidate, cast multiple votes for a candidate, or didn’t count any votes. They say that selection results can be completely predetermined and counted however the selection system desires. They say the whole process of the individual citizen voting is just an illusion to make people feel that we still have an election process.
Of course, the enlightened people have complete confidence in the ES&S iVotronic system, because no one in the election process would ever do anything to change the results of an election, and they know that computers and their networks are completely immune to any kind of remote control, virus, Trojan, programming error, or external manipulation. Old-fashioned paper ballots are completely unnecessary, because they lead to confusion over voter intent. A fully electronic and paperless system that leaves no trace of voter intent, is much better, because of security, speed of selections. Determining the results of an election well in advance speeds the process and makes it much easier for the news corporations to accurately predict winners. Of far greater importance than voter confidence in a selection system is the importance of being green. Tens of thousands of pounds of recyclable paper can be used for other, more important things.
