If its the same product say norton 2011 upgrading to norton 2012, they usually think of this, when you put in the 2012 it detects the previous version and does whatever is needed automatically. If you are switching from one to another, you will need to completely remove the old version manually, using whatever method the makers recomend, usually a simple uninstall isnt enough (otherwise a virus writer would just trigger it and youd have no protection) there is usually some sort of uninstall tool or code you need to remove it. Then just start again.
Usually no. When you install the newer version, it is like updating the program. However there are antiviruses which need to be uninstalled first before updating. To be on the safe side, I’d uninstall and then re-install the newer version. You don’t want two separate antivirus systems on your computer trying to block threats at the same time. Disaster!
Yes.
If the new version is from the same manufacturer, (either upgrade or full package) they will usually uninstall as part of the installation process. So you would not need to mess with uninstalling first, in that case.
No, it will automaticly upgrade to the newer version. I have just had to do the same.
Depends. If it’s the same brand like Norton, just install the new one. If it’s a different brand you must uninstall the old one first.
If it’s the same product, probably not.
But to be on the safe side, I’d recommend that you do☺
