Help Is Teamviewer Safe?

By admin Posted in: Security Suites Software

So I am about to use Teamviewer, I know who the person is who wants to file transfer me, but if the File is a virus, I have Malwarebytes and Norton360/security suite. Would it detect the file if it was a Virus? It will be a Gamsave, BTW.

Teamviewer is safe IF you know who is accessing your computer. Norton (as much as I hate it… never-mind that) and MalwareBytes will detect/ get rid of an infected file being given to you. But the better question is, why don’t you just use Skype to transfer the file? If the need to see your screen for any reason just screen share. Much, much safer and easier.

There are a lot of things that Teamviewer allows someone to do on your computer that would not be safe to just let anyone do.
If they are just sending you a file, use email and virus check it. There is no reason to use Teamviewer for that. Teamviewer is used when you need someone else to either take control of your computer for you or just to see what you are doing on your computer.

TeamViewer itself is safe. I use it all the time. If you trust the person and they don’t have a history of messing with you, then I would go ahead. I think you have adequate software to prevent viruses.
@Other user, you can also use TeamViewer for file sending. The file may be too large. Computer control is just one of it’s functions. There is a separate file sharing part that does not require control.

It is safe. It is just a remote desktop tool. You have to accept the file before it will transfer to you. I do not believe that your AV will detect it if it was a virus since viruses are normally .exe files.

Yes teamviewer is safe if you get it from the actual website dont trust other websites.

If you don’t trust the person that is about to connect to your computer you don’t do it.Simple as this
