How Do I Add Manually Input Network Settings( Mac Addr.) To Connect To A Router?

By admin Posted in: Network Security Software

Here’s the thing: I spoofed the last digit on my router’s MAC address so anyone wanting to connect will get an error, obviously for security reasons and because I don’t want anyone to mooch off my already slow internet. However, I need to connect my laptop to the same internet, but I can’t, obviously because I spoofed the mac.
Is there a way for me to connect with manual settings( so I can input my real MAC address), so that I can get around my own security and connect to the router? Using Windows 7, thanks.

MAC address is only used for connections within a LAN.
Therefor the only person you are keeping out of your network is yourself.
Connecting to the router from outside will happen at layer 3 of the OSI model (using IP address) but connecting within the LAN will use layer 2 (MAC address)

ok all this was kinda a dumb thing because no ones going to connect to your router just by knowing your routers mac address. i have 3 routers that have the same mac address and i am sure many people out there do too. and its easy to change them. the conflict does not stop them from reaching the internet. the direct connection to your router is you ip your isp gave you. even with a spoofed mac address i can connect to your routers page know your isp ip. now with dd-wrt and other firmware you can fix it and or make what ever mac address you want and as many you want your router to have at a time. is it worth it and does it make a security effect. no its just usefully to organize a network using hundreds of routers.
