My Computer Does Not Reboot And Beeps Three Times.?

By admin Posted in: Uncategorized

Hi I have a gateway 506 GR. I was infected with a virus( av security suite spryware). I had followed the directions to remove it by using rkill.com and malwarebytes anti malware. After running the program it detected and removed 10 trj viruses.I was unable to connect to the net prior and after the virus was removed. So i followed some step to reset the TCP/IP for windows xp by going to “network connections–right click on adapter–choose properties—uncheck internet protocol–click ok–exit—-and restart computer—— go back to properties on adapter and install TCP/IP again—reboot system–this should have given me a new TCP/IP stack. But after doing this I still could not connect to the net. If I go to internet options—connections–lan settings–and uncheck the proxy server it will then allow me to use the web. But this is not the way it is supposed to work right??? I should be able to connet to the net with this box check…. Anyways trying to do some other options form the web. when i was rebooting my computer it did not!! My computer will not reboot and it beeps three times. Screen stays black, the power light on my monitor stays orange like it does not recognize the computer is on, usaally when it reboots the light turns blue. Ive tried unpluging the power for a while and restarting it still does the same thing, runs loud and beeps three times. Does anybody have any idea what is going on I need help Please!!!!!!!!!!!

Three short sound like something wrong with your memory, specifically Base 64K RAM failure

I think the master boot record (MBR), partition tables, boot sector, or NTLDR file is corrupted. You can read more about it here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/155053
If I were you, I would just format my computer and reinstall the OS. Make sure you get a good virus software, such as “Eset Nod32″. I hope that helps!

check who manufactured the motherboard, then find out what 3 beeps means for them.
It could be anything from a video card failure to a memory problem to a busted CPU.

First question is the proxy box. Your computer may have an old address for the proxy that is no longer valid so it will not connect. THis is the way it should work. You need to have the right address as well as a flushed dns and no cookies to avoid some of these problems. As far as the 3 times beeping I THINK it may be that the memory is not seated right. Second I would ensure that if you have a graphics card that you take it out and put it back in. I would go to crucial.com to make sure the memory is right even though since this is only after a virusl. I think the GPU is more likely because 4 beeps is the memory. If that doesn’t work remove your power cord. I would also take out your flat 2032 battery on your motherboard. Take off the power cord. Probably 20 or 24 pin. Make sure u push the clip so you don’t break your motherboard. then take off your CMOS reset jumper. sometimes referred to as a Bios jumper. Small piece of plastic stuck over some pins usually near the battery or near edge of motherboard. . Make sure you know which pins were connected. Leave everything disconnected. Put everything back then put jumper back on the other pins. Probably 3 pins. Jumper hold two. The ones you should have remembered. Well put it on the other two. Then turn on computer. This will reset your CMOS and then put the jumper back on the right pins. May help as well. If it was your NTLDR or whatever the computer would say it is missing or corrupted.

Mine did the same beeping, and found out it was the connection from the on button to the pc board so it wouldn’t let enough power come on to the screen. Try checking where on button connects to board, wiggle it some, or pull off ans spry with a little WD and put back on. Oh first unplug every thing, screen, speakers, modem, ext, so you don’t send a surge through any thing.
