Ok so I usually keep the PS3 downstairs with an ethernet cable attached to the router for the PS3 to be online via a wired connection. But now I’ve moved it upstairs and the routers downstairs so I now want to connect it wireless but I can’t because I don’t think I’m changing the settings right. So I go into the internet connection settings and it says “Adjust settings for connection to the Internet. If making a wired connection, you must have an ethernet cable connected.” then I click ‘OK’.. So now it says “Select a setting method” and I pick ‘Easy’. Then says “Checking network configuration, please wait.” After that I choose the wireless connection, now it brings me to the WLAN settings. Then I click scan and it finds my bt homehub with a signal strength of 67%, so then I click my router. Now it goes on to my WLAN Security setting and I click ‘WEP’. I then enter my WEP key for the router. Then it says “Checking network configuration” (this takes about 2 minutes). So then it ends up with “The connection to the access point timed out” and brings me back to the start. Have I made a problem with my settings or something? Answer that will help me will be picked for the best answer, thanks.

NO THAT MEANS YOUR CONNECTION TIMED OUT I GOT TIRED AND PISSED AT HOW LAGGY THE WIRELESS CONNECTION WAS AND HOW MUCH IT TIMED OUT I CHANGED TO WIRED
I HATE WIRES BUT COME ON THE CONNECTION SUCKED
ANYWAY I TOLD YOU ITS YOUR CONNECTION IT TIMED OUT THE CONNECTION SETTINGS ARE FINE ALTHOUGH I DIDT PUT THE WEP KEY SENSE WE HAD NO WEP KEY FOR THE WIRED I DID HAVE TO SENSE WE FINALLY PUT A PASSWORD
Reset your modem and router (just pull the plugs). Then try to connect again.
Follow this –
On your XMB go to…
Settings> Network Settings> Internet Connection – Enabled> Internet Connection Settings>
From here select Easy – Wireless – Scan – Pick your Hub and take not of the security it uses.
Go for the security settings your hub listed, if its like mine it’ll be WPA-PSK/WPA2-PSK, input your key.
Ip Address – Auto
DHCP – Don not set
DNS Settings – Auto
MTU – Auto
Proxy Server – Do not use
UPnP – Enable
Then test your connection.
Your problem may have came from the security settings you chose, you said you picked WEP, where as your Hub will use WPA, this could cause your connection to time out, but your other problem is that the signal might just be too weak. Not much you can do about that unless you could move the hub to a more central location in your house.
