Questions About Diapers… Pampers, And What Brand Do You Like Best?

By admin Posted in: software

Before I had my little girl I wanted to buy the cheapest. Well I have a box of store brand from a wholesale place like Sam’s and they SUCK!! We have used luvs, huggies- little movers, pampers swaddlers- dry max, and walmart brand.
So far the swaddlers we like best, so oh well they cost more, but its worth it. To me they seem softer on her, don’t leave as many red marks on her legs from the elastic, and aren’t as hard! What brand do you like best and why??
Also at target there is a box and it’s labeled 1-2 up to 15 lbs and it’s the swaddlers. Does this box contain both size 1 and 2 or what? Does anyone have experience with this?? here is the link for them http://www.target.com/Pampers-Swaddlers-…
What are the difference between the cruisers and swaddlers?
I’m still so new to this, thanks everyone!!

I prefer Huggies, especially the Swaddlers. They can be expensive, but if you sign up at Huggies.com you can get coupons in the mail. Usually I get a book in the mail telling me about their products, and any special new items. At the back of the book there are usually a few coupons with things like $2.00 of a box/pack of diapers or $1.00 off a pack of wipes. In the end, it really helps. Also, if you have a Sam’s membership, you can get a big box containing about 288 diapers (I’m pretty sure this is the number, I know I’m close, but I’m not going to go in and check the box since my children are asleep.), for about $37.00. When you calculate it out, you’re saving quite a bit, and you can use the coupons on any size.
When you see the box labeled 1-2, it does not contain both sizes, but rather a medium size that will work on both smaller babies and up to the 15 lbs. I find that they tend to work for up to about 18 lbs, but my daughter is smaller than most babies her age.
I am no expert, but I find that the swaddlers have a bit more absorbency than the cruisers. I preferred Pampers when my daughter was born, but mostly because they had the “wet mark” that would turn blue when she was wet. However, this indicator turned at the slightest moisture, so I gave up and tried the huggies. She can wear the swaddlers for quite a bit longer, in my opinion, than the cruisers. The same has seemed true with my son, who is now 6 months old.

I like using Sam’s Club brand diapers. They work great on my son and I get more for my money and don’t have to buy diapers as often as if I were to go to a regular department store.

I use Luvs.. I get a box of 108 diapers for 18 bucks, they last the twins almost two weeks.
When they were first born though, I used Pampers Swaddlers because they were so soft and fit them so well…

I used swaddlers or huggies for about the first 2 mos with all of my kids and then switched to walmart brand after I was sure that they didn’t have sensitive skin. I figure that you’re just going to use them for a little while , the baby’s going to poop in it and then it’s going to the trash. Unless your baby has sensitive skin , why pay a lot for them? Use the money you save to buy her lots of new clothes…that’s more fun than buying diapers and she’ll get to use them more than once. If your baby’s young BTW I would steer away from bulk boxes , they grow out of them SOOOO fast!!

Sams brand leaked for us… and about 5 of the diapers were defective. As in… they weren’t put together right and fell apart. o_O So we didn’t use them beyond the try out period.
I used to LOVE our Safeway brand diapers, they had Snoopy on them and worked very well. Then they changed and I thought “oh well, same diaper, just no Snoopy, that’s fine by me!” but they weren’t. They didn’t work. Defective diapers in the box. Harder. Gave her a rash.
Pampers has a history of rashes in my family. You know how everyone got all upset about the new Pampers causing rashes and burns? Well, they said they didn’t change the formula and I believe them. They ALWAYS caused those type of reactions on some of the babies in my family. It was horrifying to see it on my nephew… those burns were just terrifying. I think the new Pampers just made them thinner so babies who were borderline susceptible reacted. But in my family, since that allergy runs in the family and since my daughter seems very reactive to allergies, I didn’t want to chance it. She did break out from the Swaddlers she tried when she was a newborn.
So we tried the Target Up&Up brand, and that one made her break out. Blah.
So we use Huggies. We get them in the Sams boxes so they’re not that expensive. They feel pretty soft, and they fit her. We haven’t had hardly any blow-outs, and most importantly, she doesn’t react to them. I’m all for trying any other brand someone throws at me, but in the end it comes down to whether she reacts or not.
For the record, my son has reacted to NOTHING yet. Man alive it’s a relief to have one who so far seems able to wear anything. :) But he DOES have blow-outs with Pampers, so we gave those up (we got them in the hospital.)
My favorite is the Huggies Pure and Natural. So soft! But not cheap.
Add: Forgot Luvs. They have a smell that makes me react when I smell them, so for my sake they’re just not an option. (As in, I have an asthma attack when I’m near Luvs. Makes it a pain to shop in a store that has them all over the baby aisles.)
We also tried the Costco brand and didn’t like them, but I don’t remember why.
Basically, try what you can and go with what works for you and your family. There’s no right or wrong. My friend made all her diapers (she got a fabric diaper and then studied the design, made a pattern, and sewed herself up a bundle.) She LOVES cloth diapers, but they weren’t an option for me because of our family allergies (ie, to get them clean I would have to wash them 3 times, or else we would react to the disinfectant, so not cheaper.)

I used the Pampers Swaddlers sizes 1 & 2. When my little girl got up to sizes 3, 4, & 5 I used Pampers Cruisers with Dry Max. I have always preferred the Pampers. My sister has always used Huggies on her 2 boys. Its according to what works best for your baby. Pampers are best for my baby because she has a really long crack (sorry if that TMI) and the pampers don’t leak or look uncomfortable!

With my first I tried just about every brand out there. I settled for the walmart brand because I didn’t have any problems with it and it saved a lot of money. Kirkland signature (Costco) has really soft diapers, I would compare them to the softness of name brands and they’re much cheaper.
However, what I really recommend is cloth, don’t tune me out yet…let me explain. :)
I used cloth with my second and they are AMAZING, you know what they’re made of? Microfiber! Wouldn’t you much rather use microfiber on your baby then the materials used in disposable diapers? They’re so soft, they look so comfy and I loved them. I got an extremely good deal on ebay and only paid $117 for thirty of them. They’re the one size fits all diapers that have clips so no struggling with pointy diaper pins. They’re easy to clean, just simply drop solids in the toilet then put them in the wash like all your other laundry. Plus, not only are they better on your baby’s skin, but they don’t leak as much as disposable, I even noticed fewer rashes. And since you can use it from birth-potty training and use them for a second and even third baby you’ll save hundreds of dollars. There’s even a high demand for them on craigslist, so you can sell them for half of what you paid when you’re done. That’s like diapering all your kids for free. Check it out! Totally worth it and your baby will love it!

I personally HATE Pampers brand for 2 reasons.
    1. Every box I have purchased Pampers from even though they were from different stores were defective. They either didn’t have the tabs on the side or said they were size 1-2 swadlers but in the package only had NB and only three that were size 2 or 1.
    2. They don’t absorb well.
I tried Luvs also but didn’t like that they didn’t stretch.
Kirkland brand diapers wasn’t so great either because they’re smaller than most brands
    Overall I like Huggies best
