Sorry if this is long and completely irrelevant to Ramadan section but you people seem smart so please help.
Someone sent me something on MSN saying “Is this pic of you?” with a link and it had my email address at the end of it. Me being stupid clicked it and downloaded the file but when I went to my Downloads to look at it, I couldn’t find it anywhere. So I downloaded it AGAIN and still couldn’t find it anywhere so I gave up. I didn’t have antivirus downloaded but I just downloaded AVG antivirus. I don’t know where those two files have saved, I checked everywhere. Someone else who also got the virus said that their email got messed up…
How can I get rid of this virus? Would changing my MSN password do anything? I did a virus scan thing on AVG but it didn’t detect anything. I’m worried because I can’t find those two files =S
Thanks.

if u r using firefox or google chrom, the download directory might be different.. but sometimes messages like these can be sent to u on msn.. it might even appear that a contact sent them (i received an email like this from a contact, i knew it wasnt him cuz it was in spanish and he didnt speak spanish. lol)
if this has been a long while since it happened, and nothing affected ur computer, i doubt its a virus.. unless its a worm (a file that continually multiplies that it eventually takes up all the space in the computer.. formatting the computer might solve it)..
just change ur password.. and if ur email was stolen, u can try to login by clicking ‘i forgot my password’ and following the instructions for resetting ur password (either secret question/answer or alternate email)
salam..
wow that was very unwise of you nazia, I also usually receive that kind of messages but I ignore them, that most definably is a virus, usually these kind of viruses attack on msn messenger but it can be of any type, my advice will be to scan your computer with avg and If you don’t find anything will then reboot your window.
This file could cost you everything you have on your computer, (like programs keys)
if the virus where on the computer before you install the antivirus, the antivirus cant remove it
i would say find someone to help you
I think u should use Eset Nod32 Antivirus 4. It is very powerful and free.. with fast scan and easy to be update cuz it only take less than a minute to be update. don’t have to remove and re-install your msn.
redownload msn… fully delete it first then re-install
serves you right!
