I am in the market for another eReader or tablet. Over the last few years I have bought digital books from Amazon, Google, Kobo, Nook & other stores. As you can imagine I have lots of eBooks with different file formats that can only be read by certain programs and/or devices.
So far these are the types of files that I have for my eBooks:
.pdf
.epub
.pdb
.mobi
.prc
.azw
.acsm
.epub.acsm
The eReaders that I have researched so far will only read the file formats that are sold by that particular store or company.
What I really want is a tablet and/or eReader that can open all of these eBook files for reading. This would be the ideal solution: one eReader for many file formats.
I don’t see why this should be so difficult. And please no lectures about DRMs and copyright protection. I understand all of that. However, if I have already paid my money for an eBook, I don’t see why I should be stuck with having to read said eBook with that bookstores’ device.
Oh, and I know there are “ways” (wink, wink) to convert files to a more manageable format but I don’t see why I should have to go to that extent.
Any suggestions on the perfect ereader/tablet?

ANY android tablet can read all those file extensions with the right android application. I use a combination of Aldiko app( which can read ALL those extensions except for mobi so I use kindle app for mobi. Aldiko is an amazing app.
My android tablet is the pandigital planet which I got for only 110 dollars at kohls on black friday with 30% off and 20 dollar rebate. (Lucky me!)
It’s an incredibly strong tablet for the price running games meant to be played on dual core tablet:
See this video as proof of its strength:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vKFAOThTj…
You may want a strong tablet for viewing magazines or pdfs with lots of pictures in them. The planet is strong enough for reading. It is resistive touchscreen, but its one of the best resistive touch screens I ever used.
Whatever tablet you choose, just make sure it’s strong enough but looking at youtube demonstrations/reviews.
In my opinion, the Ainol Novo 7 is the cheapest strongest android tablet right now that I would buy if I didn’t have my pandigital planet already. It is capacitive 5 point multitouch and has the same strong GPU as the pandigital planet but 1.5ghz cpu.
The ainol is supposedly only 100 dollars but has not arrived in united states yet. But chinese sellers are selling them early for 120+ dollars or more.
Here is link to the new ainol novo 7 ELF:http://www.merimobiles.com/Ainol_NOVO_7_…
150 dollars but stronger than the 200 dollar amazon kindle. Just because the kindle fire is 1ghz dual core doesn’t mean it is twice as strong. Technically dual core is usually 1.5 times stronger. Also the Novo has a better GPU.
There’s an older model of the ainol for 130 dollars too I think.
The Amazon Kindle Reader or Kindle wireless reading device is the best option to buy. These are Amazon’s bestselling products. They are also Amazon’s most-wished-for and most-gifted product, and they have the most 5-star reviews of any product on Amazon. The Kindle is now smaller, lighter and faster, and has 50% better contrast.

I can suggest using ereaderlookup.com to find a proper ereader. It allows to filter by a ton of parameters and also allows to specify file formats that ereader supports. Please give credit if you find it useful.
